Topic: Simple Compliment Made my Day!

I have been 100% single now for seven months, and as of late I have been wondering in the back of my mind if something is wrong with me. I wonder sometimes if I look too "simple" as I am a jeans & T shirt or work out clothes kind of girl. My hair is simple, long and straight, it takes me all of five minutes to blow dry in the morning and I am out the door. I am told I look ten years younger than I really am and I wonder if I just come across as some old cougar wanna be. Anyways today I ran down to the little town grocery store, just looking like my average self. As I wheeled past the deli, the lady behind the counter whom I have chatted with before but still barely know, broke into a huge smile and said " OMG Hi! I barely recognized you! Your hair is so long and beautiful! I love the color and your face is just glowing!! You look great!!"
I was stunned, and a but shyly thanked her and mentioned maybe I look different because I am wearing glasses today instead of contacts. She said "no you are beautiful! Have a great day!" I wished her the same and walked away with a huge smile. It felt good to get such a nice compliment! Maybe I am not so plain after all? Or maybe it just suits me? If this is what getting happy looks like then I must be on the right track, even if I don't have a significant other in my life right now.

congratulations on the compliment! I am glad it made you feel good.
I wish everyone took more time to recognize the opportunity to pass on a compliment. Glad it was your turn today.

Happy for you! And there's nothing wrong with being a jeans and tshirt person (coming from someone who is one too, lol)
Also being single for 7 months only means you've been single for 7 months. It does not reflect on your worth! (((Burnedcanuck)))

Oh, I love this. Glowing is always good!!
I was chatting to one of my colleagues this week about our beauty tricks/must-haves and how they change as we get older.
I told her about how I don't like to cover my skin so I prefer tinted moisturiser mixed with a high SPF moisturiser rather than foundation. I quite like my skin and don't like to cover it even though I have Vitiligo.
She said: "your skin by far your loveliest feature - it is astonishingly beautiful". Even though I've always liked my skin, I do know the colour contrast can be a little confronting for others. It was such an unexpected surprise.
I always remind myself 20 years from now I'll look back in wonder at how very beautiful and young I am right now. That is as true at 80 as it is at 38.
Sending all of the love and strength I can muster to Phoenix1 and her family.

remember to pass on the compliment to someone else.
A couple years ago I decided to focus on saying genuinely nice things to people when I think them. 'Wow...I love that jacket' even to a stranger I'm barely making eye contact with. I try and notice new things about the people I interact with. It makes there day and I feel happy b/c happy leads to more happy.
But that's just a lot of water
Underneath a bridge I burned
And there's no use in backtracking

Positive energy is very attractive! not just for romance but friendships, etc. People are drawn to that.
And likewise a lot of people are repelled by debbie downer types.
