DOH!  Posted: 7:55 AM, October 30th (Wednesday), 2013View ProfileEdit MessagePrivate MessageHomepage

Yesterday I noticed that I was sitting slumped over and was constantly rubbing my head. Not my normal sitting posture or behavior.

I sat back and took a look at all of the 'to-do' lists on my desk and realized that, once again, I'm overextending myself.

- I start my new job on Monday, so I need to pack up my current office, however I do not have a new office to move into yet, so I will literally be working out of boxes.
- scheduling trick-or-treating for my DD who is still afraid of the dark, which means juggling my time at work and my commute as well as connecting with a 'buddy' for her.
- setting up my DD's soccer team's tournament refreshment needs (yep...I'm a soccer mom)
- finalizing plans and menu for my fWH's and my first ever adult Halloween costume party, also on Saturday. 50 people that need to be fed, entertained and hydrated.
- budgeting time to carve 8 more pumpkins for Halloween and said party.
- planning my DD's annual end of soccer season soiree (at least this time it isn't at my house) for next weekend.
- planning my DD's 8th birthday party at the end of November.

All this on top of just getting over acute bronchitis. Can somebody please slap me up side the head? Please?

Ooooh Mack. I say cancel the party. Or at least move it back a few weeks.

Bronchitis can easily turn into pneumonia if you don't treat yourself well.

It happened to me last year. Started as the flu, turned into bronchitis, took antibiotics, got somewhat better, but not completely... started my new job, stressed very little sleep, and bingo bango was feeling horrid, went to the Dr and Dx with pneumonia, Bit time antibiotics, inhalers (first time ever), and steroids. IT SUCKED!! New job couldn't call in. Took me 2 months to feel human again, so yah I was icky all through Thanksgiving and Christmas.

So rest up, and delegate some of that stuff to others.

Is it possible to get fWH to pitch in with the kids and/or the party? tushnurse is right! Overextending yourself could really take a toll on your already weakened immune system. Hope your week slows down for you! Take care!

Why not make "pumpkin carving" part of the party activities....you could have them there and people can have a go at carving one to enter into a "contest" for a minor prize? That way you will have them done, and not have to do all the work yourself?????
Ask people to "bring something" to contribute to the food/snacks for the adult party. Make it "BYOB" so people bring what they want to drink...provide non-alcoholic punch/drinks for others who don't want to consume alcohol. You could have fun with dry ice and the punch bowl....
Scale back the celebrations to simple "movie and snacks" for your daughter and their friends...it could be an afternoon of fun for them and a lot less work...
Engage other "soccer moms" to help with the tournament...split up the refreshments so they all bring something for the kids.
Take your daughter to an "indoor" trick or treating...many of the malls in our area provide them here so the kids don't have to be out in the dark...it's fun, there's lots of kids and treats.

You can't reach for anything new if your hands are still full of yesterday's junk.......Louise Smith
