Well... As you know, we decided to keep DS from spending the nights with his father. His dad picked him up at 8am this morning and they're at the Magic Kingdom today. He'll come home tonight to sleep.

I explained to DS the whys and what for's of the change in weekend. I told him about the 30 year old and how he was staying at Dad's house to detox from a pain killer addiction.

I told DS about some of the effects of the DT's. and I could see DS turning green as I explained. Then I told him his dad and thought it would be a good life lesson... DS said "Why? " He said he had zero interest in seeing any of that. And was also a bit ticked that his dad would even suggest it.

So, all in all, I think I made the right decision not to let DS go to his Dad's house.

RE: the guy detoxing... I kept getting these reports that "nothing's happening", "He's just having trouble sleeping", "He's a bit jittery". This morning I got "The puking has begun!"

I kept telling Ex that the worst hadn't happened yet but I think he was in denial... or he just didn't believe me because he hates that I am smarter than he is...

Sounds like everything worked out for the best. I bet your son is thankful that he didn't get 'hurled' into an uncomfortable situation.

Hoping the guy gets detoxed without any issues, and you can all get back onto your regular schedule.
