I have had few good birthdays since then, and yesterday was no exception....
I worked, no one at my work even acknowledged that it was my birthday. Had a 2 hour teleconfernce where the boss was so lost I wanted to scream (thank god for mute buttons or I would have lost my job).
I get home, and the Cat has a hematoma on her ear, and will have surgery to fix it tomorrow. Not sure how or why, but of course she won't quit shaking her head now because her ear feels weird, I just hope she doesn't get on on the other side before tomorrow.
My youngest informs she has her first Honors Geometry test, and that she is completely lost on how to do any of it. This is the same kid that I was complaining about the other day, the 14 yo who knows everything.Do you know how hard it is to teach the distance, midpoint, radius/area/circumfrence equations to that knows everything?!?!??....Needless to say with much drama, and episodes of yelling at one another, her yelling at her dad, her yelling at her brother, I was up until 1am doing geometry.
I hope I do well on the test today.
Becasue of all of that, an extra Marching Band Practice, and disorganization on my H's part, I got a passing Happy Birthday from my kids, and H forgot to give me my card, which he had filled out, and set on his dresser, and there is a nicely wrapped gift on the coffee table, that I am asuming is for me, but noone said anything about.
Screw it!! I am taking tomorrow off work, I am taking the cat to the vet, then going for a pedicure, and a massage. I work damn hard, and if no one is gonna recognize it, then I will just have to celebrate on my own.
Thank you for listening...I will now return you to your regularly scheduled programming....
I hope you have a fabulous, relaxing day today. You certainly deserve it.
(((Big Birthday HUGS)))
I would draw the line (no pun intended, snort) at helping with any math after algebra I. I had to struggle with it. Go get a tutor. Shudder. I actually tutored algebra, geometry and trig in high school back when I was smart. Now, no way would I try to get a handle on that stuff again to teach anyone. Nope. Not happening.
I will enjoy my day tomorrow, and shouldn't be spending money on myself, since kitty will cost me. But hey it's only money....

Treat yourself, honey. You deserve it.
Think of the haters in your life as sandpaper; they’ll scratch you up time and time again but in the end you’re polished, smooth, and spotless..while they end up useless
We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.
One of the things I did for all my kids when they "knew everything," but didn't hesitate to ask me for help with their homework was set some basic rules. I told them I would always help them when they asked, but if they ever copped an attitude of any kind when I was taking time out of my day to help them at their request, then the tutoring session was done. I ended sessions early on several occasions because of that until they realized I was dead serious. If they already knew it all and didn't like what I had to say, then fine. Don't ask me to help you. If they weren't "getting it" and got an attitude out of their frustration? We were done. I was always willing to spend time to help if it was accepted with respect and a willingness to work with me (not me doing all the work). After long stressful days at work, I was not about to spend my evenings dealing with teen attitudes when I was asked for help.
Hope all goes well for your cat, and enjoy your pedi and massage!

You go and have yourself a nice day with pampering. You deserve it. Sorry, you had a disappointing day.
Oh, and I don't do math. DS is in AP Geometry. Uh no.
I start celebrating a month before the date, buy myself whatever I want within reason and treat myself very well. I like it that way.
I hope you enjoy your day today, and happy belated birthday!
PJ, love all your math puns.
Geometry is the end of my math ability. Honestly it was what kept me from going on to an advanced degree, any more chemistry, or higher math, and I would have flunked out.
Sad - I know how you feel, I usually do take matters in my own hands, honestly it snuck up on me this year.
Also the last time my mom had a birthday dinner for me, she served a dessert of an icecream cake thing she made. (I haven't been able to consume dairy for almost 20 years). I was honestly pissed that she was so unaware. So I had a bottle of wine instead.
Anyway, plan for tomorrow, boot kids out the door to school, take minniekitty to vet, go get pedi, go get hair colored, possibly get a massage, have a good lunch, and head back to pick up minniekitty. (Who is gonna be a real treat after sedation, and is still about 300% kitten). I think I need to pick up a bottle of wine on my way....
About little miss I know everything -- what Phoenix1 said. I do this -- actually don't have to do it much anymore, as I did it when my kid was in 3rd grade. All. Year. Long. OMG, I came **this close** to homicide that year! So I feel ya. Disrespect is unacceptable. And if you feel like you are being mean by not helping, remember that you're actually helping keep her from being that obnoxious and helpless college student who gets to work with me.
I'm sorry your birthday was a bust. I hope you have a fabulous time tomorrow and enjoy every minute of it.
Definitely get the massage! You deserve it!
Cats surgery went well. Went shopping, got an awesome mani, pedi that the massage that went withthem left me like a limp noodle.
In addition I got my real present from H and kids. The kids got a neat frame withpics of them when they were still cute and sweet. H got me my very own tablet. I love it!!!!!!!
Thanks for all the warm wishes.
