So my parents celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary at the end of the month. I am TRYING to have a surprise party for them next Saturday. I have 32 people coming for a sit down dinner. You would think everyone would be cool, but now both my aunt and uncle and their BFFs are coming to town ahead of time to visit. Because that isn't obvious!! Old people. Save me!! Lol

Anyway, I need mojo that this works. My mom is a slightly larger control freak than I am, so it is only a matter of time before she wants to change our "casual dinner up at my place" to something else. And I have my cousin's family AND my brother and his gf staying with us. And I have to travel for work Thurs and Fri. Ack!

No biggie right? All will be great! Right? RIGHT?!

It will be alright. No matter what happens, you are bringing people together that love your parents and vice versa. That is a good thing.

When I did a surprise party for my sister's 50th BD last year, she was actually involved in the planning. She thought we were having a big party to celebrate all our family BDs from June-September. (We have like 8 or 9 in that time frame) She didn't know till she got there that it was just for her.

I tried to do a surprise for my folks' 50th, and ended up having to tell my mom because she could not, would not leave me alone about what we were doing. It was probably a better decision since she doesn't really do well with surprises.

I think that however it works out will be wonderful and perfect, and will send all my mojo towards keeping them in the dark.

Let your "control freak" Mum think she is busy helping plan an event for her 50th anniversary! She can be involved in planning something at a local restraunt or something like that, but all of the family will know the true event is at your place!
That way it won't be obvious that your aunt and uncle are coming into town "early".....
The other thing you could do is add in some "surprise" elements to a party she knows about....my parents "renewed" their vows at their 50th....surprise them with something like that...
Have fun...HUGS
