I see a lot of references both here and on the interwebs about a Parenting Plan. What is this and how is it different than what's in the divorce decree and/or child support agreement? Is it a court document? Can we create it after the fact and file an addendum with the courts? What is typically covered in a parenting plan?

It may just be called different things in different states. My parenting plan outlines when the kids will be with me, when they'll be with STBX, which holidays we get, what time is drop off/pick up, etc.

Here it is an agreement between both parents about custody etc. You can pretty much put anything you want in them if you both agree. However it is not legally binding. There is nothing legally you can do if either party breach the agreement.

In our state, the parenting plan is a legally binding document. There is the divorce, which is the financial piece, and the parenting plan, which deals with custody and visitation.

Both are approved through the court system.

Love always hopes.
