DOH!  Posted: 12:11 PM, August 5th (Monday), 2013View ProfileEdit MessagePrivate MessageHomepage

Besides my oil paints that I'd been asking about for years that I found in a box on the bottom shelf of a cabinet that held his collection of MS-DOS books from thirty years ago?

In that same cabinet I finally went through his stuff there to pack it away. I knew that he had old newspapers he'd saved in there. As I packed them this weekend I actually looked at them. Anyone care to guess what the subject was that he saved all these years?

I'll give you a hint. I think these were saved as a form of hero worship, perhaps. So who might STBX have held up in such regard that he saved newspapers that had mention of him? It's a man...

Any guesses?

Here's another hint. This man became famous starting in 1976. Maybe famous isn't the right word. Infamous might be better.

While you think of an answer, I'm going to mull over the possibility of taking up oil painting again and incorporating these paints (many are still soft!!!) as a healing ritual.

No, but that's an excellent guess!

You'll have to think bigger. Even more famous than John Holmes. Someone who made front page headlines.

Oh, that's another good guess! This man is probably just as famous. In fact, it may be the case that some people may remember this man more than they remember what Waterhouse involved.

Gonnabe, you're in the right direction. It's not Charles Manson, but it's someone who is equal to him. And with that final glaring hint I may move to the denoument quickly.

And let us not forget that I found a .44 revolver in the garage last year. Loaded. And unlocked.

Freakin' A.

I hate to say it but given everything you've said about your ex, I figured it had to be a serial killer. Because that fits with the horrible creepiness of his M.O.

Ugh.

Your ex is fucking creepy,NG. Didn't you find a set of flowery, little girl sheets in the garage also..that you had never seen before?

This man scares me..it scares me that he has access to your sweet babies. Thank God they have a wonderful, sane, loving, alert mother.

I wasn't born until 1976 lol. I figured it was some serial killer. I'm off to Google who Son of Sam is. I'm guessing some serial killer.

I wish there was some way to get your kids supervised visitation with him. He's creepy and sick!

I think...therefore, I'm single.

It is what it is.

peridot, I'm an 80s baby and also had to google. Ironically I've heard of the Son of Sam laws but not the serial killer himself.

NG, can I ask a question about your garage? Actually more of a series of questions... feel free not to answer if you don't want, I'm just curious.

How long have you been in that house? I get the impression your XH is/was a horder, based on the volume of stuff in the garage - how full was it when he moved out? Before you separated or everything started, what was his attitude toward the garage? Did you ever go out there or go through anything, or was he like really protective of that space?

What a wackadoo your XH is.

Yes, Confused, I did find a set of flowery "little girl-ish" sheets in the garage. That were missing a pillowcase.

Ama, we've lived here since the mid-90's. By the time I kicked him out the garage was full with a pathway out each door. Yes, STBX spent hours out there and pretty much claimed the space as his own. He did not like me to even be out there. He would spend hours arranging & rearranging items, boxes, box contents, and so forth, shuffling things around & doing stuff. I was not allowed to be out there when he did this, nor was I allowed to ask specifics about what he was doing or what was where. I was not allowed to go through the boxes or search for anything out there (probably because on the rare occasion when I did look for something I'd find porn). Whenever I'd mention that I wanted to make it so my stuff was in one area he'd rush to do it before I could get to it.

What I still don't understand (and I know I never will) is why he deliberately took things from his boxes pre-marriage and things from my boxes pre-marriage and mixed them up together. No reduction in overall box content was made, just our stuff got mixed up. Like, I'd open a box and see my stuff on the top, so it looks like a box of my stuff. It's also labeled as my stuff. But when I'd dig a little deeper I'd find the rest of the box was HIS stuff.

Oh well. These garage threads will go away eventually. I thought the last one from a few weeks ago was the last one.
