Well that's awkward.

A guy I went on six or seven dates with but ultimately just didn't feel *that* connected to, just tried to add me on LinkedIn.

I unfriended him on facebook about six weeks after we stopped seeing each other. Neither of us has made any effort to contact each other since we stopped seeing each other. And we do not work in the same industry, so no reason to connect professionally.

Ignore.

Woah, just fb stalked him, and it appears he got married a month ago! He was hardcore online dating less than two years ago.

I guess two years isn't that quick for marriage (it looks like they started dating very shortly after I stopped seeing him), but damn, it sure doesn't feel very long either.

ETA: They're actually really cute together. Awwwww!

I received an invitation to connect on Linkedin from someone who I was convinced would not do that voluntarily.

It seems that when you sign up you need to opt out somewhere by ticking/unticking a box.... Or otherwise Linkedin will send invitations to your contacts automatically.

From the range of invitations I have received it seems to scour your contacts list and email inbox for possible matches.

Maybe this is the case for you and this guy????

I think LinkedIn has some almost virus/spywear-like communications that aren't always legit.

When my co-worker left, they transfered her emails to me, so that nothing would get lost. She hasn't been here in 5 years, but she gets invitations for LinkedIn all the time....just last week.

There are some who get waaay to close on Linkedin. I agree that it scours your email because I received an invite from a fellow boy scout leader that I really don't talk with. I was amazed and wondered why they were inviting me to Linkedin.

Yeah, LinkedIn prompts me to add contacts via email almost every time I log in I've done it once but I double checked them all before sending.

He was a nice guy; I just don't keep in touch with exes, and while OLDs aren't exactly exes after just a handful of dates, it's still on the wrong side of the boundary for me.

LinkedIn caused me to email an invite to my entire contact history - completely unintentionally.
