User Topic: Going to Sporting Events Alone?

Question  Posted: 9:27 PM, July 29th (Monday), 2013View ProfileEdit MessagePrivate MessageHomepage

So I live in Miami now and root for west coast teams. I want to go and see the Giants when they play the Marlins. I am having trouble finding someone who would come with me (tickets are pretty cheap). I'm thinking of just paying a higher price for a single, premium ticket and going to the game solo. But I don't know... is that weird?
I will go to art walks and movies alone, went to a happy hour alone, but not sure how I feel about a sporting event. Thoughts?

Do it! I'd rather go alone because then I can keep score instead of having to chat :)

I go everywhere alone and I think a sporting event is the perfect place! It's conducive to talking to your neighbors (along with some good natured ribbing of the home team if you're so inclined... )

I solemnly swear that I am up to no good.

I think a sporting event would be far easier to go to alone than a happy hour, and you've already done that. With a sporting event there is constant entertainment, and it's easy to chat to people around you. If you enjoy the sport, you will have a blast!

I go to hockey games by myself all the time. I actually find that less awkward than some other solo stuff...

Oh, good Lord, don't do that! It's the Marlins for Pete's sake!

Get a ticket that gets you into the bottom bowl of the stadium and trust me, after about 3.5 innings, you'll be able to find a seat anywhere.

I see no harm in going alone, but I also recommend you check out some team forums. Iíve met some cool people through hockey forums, and they frequently get together for games, or share unused tickets.

AJ's mom - they police the better seats to force you to pay for them.

I'll be going to a Pirates game on Friday night all by myself.

My employer has a pair of tickets, and I got this game as a pat on the butt.

I'm going, and it will be a blast! I don't have to share my nachos with anyone!!
