I pushed my husband to a physical. I even handed him a list of things to talk with the doctor about. One of them being a low sex drive. Turns out he needs testosterone shots. About a month after, he starts his affair. I try not to think about what would have happened if I didn't make that dang appointment for him. Anyone else deal with testosterone shots?

It''s not quite what you were asking about but my xWH would buy illegal testosterone overseas and have it shipped to him so he could put on muscle.

The result? His already perverted sex drive went through the roof to my detriment bc I hated sex with him (as in came to loathe bc he was so rough & selfish), he did indeed put on so much muscle that he tore his tricep training, an injury I''m told is common when muscle mass outstrips the bone structures ability to hold it, & his already nasty temper became worse meaning he''d have angry outbursts at inappropriate times & places.

IMHO sex between a loving couple is an important part of a relationship but not at the expense of pharmaceuticals to create. I''m sure others disagree but having been on the receiving end of such abuse, improving a sex life would neve be worth the risk to me.

But please don''t blame yourself. You could not have known the risks. Tv is full of ads about low T, how it''s a bad bad thing and must be resolved. Plus, extra T aside, cheating is still the purview of the super selfish, again, not your fault.

FP doc here:

The testosterone just increased his energy to do what he would have already been contemplating. Affairs are from the mind not the genitals.

I am a medical professional and very active in the fitness modeling / bodybuilding world.

There is a BIG difference between bringing T to normal vs using T to make T levels exceed normal as cayc describes.

Increasing T levels is not an exxcuse for an A. Period.

The physiological response of a man whose physician has prescribed testosterone to address low levels is PROFOUNDLY different than the response of a testosterone abusing bodybuilder.

Please don't let cayc's response concern you. Your husband is being treated by a doctor who will monitor the hormone's level. The aim is to achieve a level within normal limits.
