HS:
Sorry you had to find us, remember you and your kids are priority #1, for the time being your WW no longer qualifies to be on the list. I hope someday you will be able to pencil her back in.

SG: Did I miss something, is the word grok itself controversial, what were they so upset about? I would think the ability to grok this shit we are dealing with would be something everyone should hope to achieve. Maybe then a few of us might find some semblance of peace.

Tred: grok, awesome concept to apply here.

Going AFK till next week, so let me leave with this (Sorry doesn't look great, ran out of time)

Preface to this one:

How to fuck your way to that glass slipper....

Apparently there are geeks who will take it past the traditional stupid arguments like what is a geek vs nerd into a realm where using words such as grok denotes you as a faux-geek or hipster nerd or something.

Ah, yes, those would be the idiot 20-something fuckers who didn't pick up a copy of The Moon is a Harsh Mistress until after Heinlein was dead and want to talk about progressive gender role interpretations of Stranger in a Strange Land...and they're likely still trying to figure out the joke in Wyoming Knott's name.

I'd retroactively throw Paul Verhoeven into that pile except that he gave us Dina Meyer topless, so I won't speak ill of him. I owe the man a debt.

heinlein is good. Jack Vance is sublime. Give it a shot. Start with Starking.

I've recently heard that I've completely missed the boat regarding Gene Wolfe. Ursula LeGuin called him "our Melville." High praise indeed.

Will pick up one of his after I plow through a backlog of books. Lately I've only been able to buy good used books. Can't get settled enough to read. yeah... you know why.

Welcome HS.

guys, thanks for the suggestion to 'adopt' a guy in JFO. I haven't really looked there in a long while, but have decided to chime in and follow someone's situation.

I am not a marriage counselor. I chose "MC Jack" in the spirit of a handle like "MC Hammer" or Young MC"...there is a lot of 'rapping' here, no? At the time I did not know what MC stood for on this site. Duh.

Hot sauce, I see a lot of similarities in our situation. I have to be honest, what my gut tells me about my own wife is she has come to the breathtaking epiphany that life is going to be more difficult when we are splitting our incomes between two households.

Later-
Wouldn't it have been nice if our WWs could have made that sort of sane, logical, cost-benefit analysis BEFORE the affair, huh?

FacePunched – I doubt they could do the math because the sane/logical part was not accessible

I am sure they were thinking OM would pick up the slack

Especially when I specifically told her that if we did not work on the M we were facing D, and if that happened it would be financial disaster for everyone.

I am sure they were thinking OM would pick up the slack

I have actually suggested to her that OM should pick up some of her bills. She was pretty upset when I explained that I have an alienation of affection claim against him, but of course his wife has a similar claim against her.

We need a guy named The Todd or Fat Tony or something.

I've decided that's all we're missing to be perfect and have all of our emotional needs met.

@Tred - strange when I saw "Fat Tony" my first thought was not the mob.

Yeah, it probably shouldn't really matter - there was also a John, Gary, 3 Brian's, a Hugh, Don, and one that had my first name that I know of (hint - it wasn't Tred ). It's just a name, but "The Todd" was her LTA and the most special to her from her time on AM. I need thicker skin someday...it's not like I avoid people with those names or they trigger me. I would just prefer not to be reminded of it in the Menz sanctuary.

Maybe I'm just a little jealous that there isn't a TC sniper backing up 5454, Sal, jjct and WAL.

Be careful what you wish for TC, it's not all glory. My character has lost his shit a few times and even wasted a rookie. I see some serious battle stress counseling in his future despite his badassedness. Assuming he survives. He is a cool MF'er though. Thanks SG.

A comment on B444's plan to kill everyone he meets: I hope to meet B444 one day. Not so much concerned about his plans, but the potential execution of same. Hopefully a BM brother gets a heads up when he's pushing his luck

HS, welcome to this thread. Your situation seems encouraging, although I agree with TC about your wife needing to change jobs. Look forward to seeing you around the BM thread, brother. BTW, good call starting your posting history here. Most of us take a little time finding our way here. This is a fun place to hang in cyberspace if you can get past the reason you're here to begin with.

Update: things have been going well for me and the wife. She has been consistently remorseful and is working hard on herself and our marriage. I really have no complaints outside of the facts that got us here in the first place. Since my posts usually kill whatever warm-and-fuzzies exist on this thread, I thought it was time to inject something positive into the discussion.

My STBXWW's AP had the last name of the shortened form of Richard...I thought that was fitting.

I have no idea WTF is going on in here half the time. If it's not Leggo you have passed me by.

The girls never were into video games and I only did Dance Revolution when they had friends over. A great way to embarrass the kids.
