Yeah, Yoda told Luke to let them go. When Luke asks even if it means their death, Yoda tells him yes, and to honor their sacrifice.

eta:

Lucas supposedly drew directly from the ideas of Campbell when creating the mythos of the Star Wars (drink?) universe. In this case you are dealing with archetypes that help to drive, guide, and simplify the storyline as opposed to real life where things are more complicated. Anakin/Vader with the rise, fall, and final absolution contrasted to Luke flying between the extremes and trying to do the right thing guided by his own convictions rather than those of others.

Yeah, very much this. Y'all find better ways to say this shit.

Actually, Kenobi himself espoused the ideals of Qui-Gon Jinn, which is why I consider him the greatest Jedi/force practitioner. Qui-Gon never made the council only because he went against the council on many occasions, questioning their inertia and strict adherence to archaic religiosity rather than pragmatic application of the force for good.

Qui-Gon almost straddled between being a Jedi and being apathetic to the whole 'guardians of the peace' schtick. Not to say he was drawn to being a Sith but there is, as pointed out earlier, a use for fear, hate and anger and its not all Sithly. One may say that it was qui-Gon who actually enabled the rise of an anakin and eventually Luke to restore order in the universe. No other Jedi master had the foresight nor the cahunas to make such far reaching decisions.

One could say he learnt this from his own master count dooku before he turned Sith and who was initially opposed to the 'republic' and the Jedi order being used as their crack troops. And we all know where that republic was headed so can anyone blame dooku for his choices?

I'm learning a lot today. Mostly that you guys are smarter.

We actually talked about Yoda last night in IC. It was about the quote:

"All his life has he looked away... To the future, to the horizon. Never his mind on where he was. Hmm? What he was doing? Hmm. Adventure Heh. Excitement. Heh. A Jedi craves not these things."

Oh we'll. Losing my wife has been harder than losing Yoda.

DR, Only Zuul

I could write a whole synopsis comparing my wife's ability to change roles between wife (bubble wrapped Gozer) and poser's girlfriend (Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man).
Seriously the parallels running through my mind right now are staggering.

Shhhhh, first rule of menz club is that we can't talk about other threads.

But c'mon man....really? All of us? I'm gonna miss posting in JFO.

Apparently my short term memory is shot since we just discussed the first rule a few pages ago. Oops!

Either way, that post was silly enough to make me laugh rather than offending me.

I thought the first rule of Menz club was there ain't no Menz club? Anyways, the poster is brand new and will learn or leave. Hopefully learn...

In general (not the thread General, but general, you get the idea) if I see a remark that really sets me off, I just PM a guide that I know is on and let them handle it. Not everyone gets the etiquette right away.

I'm ready for a beer.

ETA: Anyone else noticed the vast improvement of good lookings (aka Wonderboy) humor in the pictures lately? Seems to coincide with his moving back to WA, which just recently legalized a certain herb. Coincidence?

Coincidence? Nah. It's readily available here and probably cheaper too. It could be that he's finally out of the fucking heat though.

I haven't moved yet!! I am still trapped down here in this inferno!

I moved the family up a few weeks back, but had to fly back down to Phoenix to finish up some work. I get to go back home in about another week.

I think the pictures have improved because I have massive short-timer's right now. (actually I have mostly finished what I needed, and now am just killing time--but I have some stuff on Monday that I have to be here for, otherwise I would have already left).

Shhhhh-I don't know what you mean about certain things being legal up in Washington. A bunch of hippies up there.
