I'm hoping that this might be my next ride.

She's a Vietnam era Swift Boat that we got from Malta. She never served in Vietnam, but was used for training, then sold to Malta who, after many decades, donated her back to us. We just got her back in the water and running, and managed to do some harbor tours for the Swift Boat veterans around here when they had a reunion. I'm hoping to line handle on her when we get a regular schedule figured out for her. Helped a bit cleaning the very nasty engine compartment while the engines were out for refurbishment.

BTW my FWH took a peek over my shoulder and is GREATLY admiring all of the other ships! And aesir, you ought to see our model ship builders guild. They have their very own space on the Berkley and hook in a lot of people as they are working by showing them how things go together. They do awesome work!

Imagine a ship trying to set sail while towing an anchor. Cutting free is not a gift to the anchor. You must release that burden, not because the anchor is worthy, but because the ship is.

That wasn't a model I posted though.

That is a replica of the first ship used by the Hudson Bay Company for the fur trade. Details are in the wiki link I between photos, but the highlights are 54' 6' draught, original from 1650, replica 1970, using original methods and tool types.

Your mileage may vary... in accordance with the prophecy.

Do not back up. Severe tire damage.

Well, that submarine won't be the one then. She's the Dolphin, and was a research platform the last diesel submarine in the Navy. The worlds deepest diving submarine. So, no air-to-sea missiles. One of my best friends was the Sr. Chief sonarman on her, when she tried to sink herself a couple of years before she was decommissioned. It's rather neat crawling into her non-public spaces, but the Navy took out all of the really neat stuff in her.

Now, our Soviet B-39 Foxtrot submarine might be more up your alley ... except for the fact that the next time she goes down is likely to be the last time! She is in a continual state of trying to sink thank god for auxiliary bulge pumps! She is the sub that was used in the recent movie "Phantom."
