Who's watching?

I can't wait until it starts! It was an awesome book. Barbie is my favorite character, I hope the actor portrays him right.

I may need to have the book with me so I can compare the two

after what they did to Bag of Bones, I just can not handle adaptations of King novels. I watched about 20 minutes of bag of bones, and there was so much wrong between the movie and book i turned it off and never finished it.

I had bigger hopes for this one since he's actually very involved, but they already show one major issue that I am just not understanding in the previews. They can't speak through the dome in the previews, but there are major parts in the book that have the characters talking through the dome.

I can't wait! I may DVR it, too.

Undefinabl3, I've noticed that too. I also didn't see the guy in hat on the other side of the dome (was it a trucker cap? I can't remember) that Barbie was talking to. The other part I don't remember being in the book is the female cop having a firefighter boyfriend on the other side of the dome. But that book is sooooo thick I may not be remember a detail that small.

Ooooh, thanks for the heads up! I just loaned the book to my dad, so I'm going to get him to watch too!

Can't wait to see what they do with the ending.

You're welcome! That will be interesting. I thought it was supposed to be a mini series, but the articles I've read only mention series, so I don't know how long it'll run.

Haven't read the book, but the previews look interesting. I'll give it a go.

Read the book - twice - and plan on watching it. Since it's for TV, I expect it to stay pretty faithful to the book. It's the theatrical movie adaptations that tend to really go off the rails (think The Lawnmower Man). I'm kinda wondering about "Big Jim" Rennie myself. He was a real SOB. The kind of character you just *know* is gonna have a bad ending.

It was such a good book. I had to force myself to put down so I could go to sleep

Junior should be interesting to see as well. That dude was messed up.

Since it's for TV, I expect it to stay pretty faithful to the book.

You would think so, but Bag of Bones was like a 4 part TV series and omg...it just really didnt even...it was just so off the book.

I will give it kudo's for being a good show - but only if you had never read the book.

The biggest issue that I had with the Bag of Bones book was that they tried to explain why Kyra's dad was not in the picture and while i must say that they did really great job of making him out to be a killer (with Mattie having to kill her own husband to save her child) it put a spin on Mattie and the story that in the book is just not there. It turned Mattie in to a much older and wiser person and that veered very far from the book.

There were many many other changes and differences. Anyway.

i will check it out, see how well they go along, but I am seriously not holding my breath that they will keep it close to the book, more like a TV show loosely based on the book.

The reason I think it should be pretty close to the book is because TV producers (as opposed to movie producers) know the best way to do Stephen King is to follow what he wrote as closely as possible. Think The Stand and The Langoliers. Yes, there were slight deviations but all in all, they were pretty close. Now, take Maximum Overdrive, The Lawnmower Man (which had *nothing* to do with the story) and other movies based on his work and Hollywood seems to think they can write Stephen King better than Stephen King.

Jennifer, I caught a part of a commercial for it and it mentioned being online the next day. I'm guessing maybe the CBS website.

Well, I was excited about watching this.

Why do I get the feeling Stephen King and CBS got together and said, "Book? We don't need no stinkin' book."

Was it close to the book or did it go off tangent?

The cow scene was enough to turn me into a vegetarian, that was a bit too much.

The first pages of the book was Barbie walking out of town when the dome dropped and a gopher was cut in half, not a cow.

Barbie worked at the Sweetbriar was a cook and at one point was beat up by Junior and his friends, so they did obviously know each other.

Duke's pacemaker exploded when he walked up to the Dome the first time. They could talk to each other through the Dome and Junior didn't lock up Angie in fallout shelter.

So far it's not lining up with the book. Needless to say I'm a little disappointed in it. If I didn't already read the book I would say, as far as action and trying to hook the viewers, it's good.

Dean R Koontz ia another author who's book to movies are slaughtered.

Not sure why they options best sellers only to rewrite to the point of obliterating the book.

The Stand I loved and it pretty much kept on point with the book.
