This is why I didn't feel *too* guilty dropping 50 bucks at B&N today.

I dont go to movies very often.
I dont watch a lot of television.
I dont smoke.
I dont drink (much).
I dont go clothes/shoe shopping more than a couple of times a year.
I dont have a Starbucks 'habit'.

So I can safely indulge in buying books for my Kindle on a regular basis and feel relatively guilt free.

You know about all the free sites where you can get free books for your Kindle, right?
There are many of them now.

I do read some free books (have Barchester Towers on my Kindle now,) but I'm picky and often end up paying for the specific ones I want. I'm otherwise pretty frugal, but I recently finished school, don't have a job yet, and have been reading easily three novels a week.

The Kindle was my graduation present. As far as I'm concerned the only thing that could make it better is if it were somehow grafted to my body.

There is a wonderful free back-catalog. But I'm noticing Kindle book prices are now often a bit higher than paperback for some of the good new literature.

So I'm still a long way from converting. I hate clutter, but somehow love my full bookshelves... and cartons in storage. When I had this house built I traded a fireplace for a huge set of built-in bookshelves in the living room. I think I just set a personal record with an order for 19 books from Amazon the other night.

I will have plenty of time to read, because I think my shoulder injury I've been fighting the last month during softball games turned into a full-blown separation during tonight's game.

We have a ridiculous number of books in our house and I honestly could not care less about clutter. It's embarrassing, but what gets me about the Kindle is the instant gratification factor. I finish a book and want the next one in the series/by the same author/on the same topic? COOL, thirty seconds later I'm reading it! Not to mention that I can stick the Kindle in my purse and it is a whole lot more convenient than carrying a stack of books around with me.

Sorry about your shoulder, though, Red Sox :(

I also love my Kindle! I've read Not Just Friends, Surviving Infidelity, How to Heal Help Your Spouse Heal From Your Affair, and books that deal with my FOO issues. I recently purchased The Five Love Languages and a book that Fallen recommended, The Four Agreements.

I also have non-R books; I'm a huge fan of Anthony Bourdain, devoured Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother, mysteries, some horror fiction etc.

One-Click shopping makes it WAY too easy.

I can cure you.

However, this cure is not approved by the FDA and you will need to PM me for it.

Also is it a real Kindle or a Kindle app on another platform.

My Kindle is basically attached to me. I did order R books in actual print so that I can highlight or otherwise notate...

It is my dream to someday fill up my kindle library. Not sure if thats possible :-p

That's it exactly for me. Or if I'm buying the second book in a series and know I'll want to read more by the author, click, click, click and it's done without even having to pull out my credit card!

Holy wow, but I've spent some serious change on the Kindle lately. I REALLY need to get control of the habit. It's way too easy. Having said that, it's also the only books I travel with now. I spend too much time in airports and read far too quickly to carry the real deal with me.

I have so many of the free books downloaded, I let myself buy a book for every 4-5 freebies I read. :)

Coming soon you will be able to borrow library books on your Kindle. Up to now that's only been available to Sony, Nook and Kobo readers (and i-stuff).

The sales rep from Overdrive (the company that manages most ebooks for libraries) says it will be available Oct 1 of this year. That's the first time I've heard an actual date mentioned.

But, it is still pretty hard to borrow books in series from libraries.

LOL thanks!

It'll be interesting to see how many books I'll actually pack onto this thing before it screams, "Mercy!!!"
