As of this morning, I'm down 5lbs since Feb 27!
I'm getting 90+ ounces of water in per day and am working out (at least 40-45 minutes, 5 days per week).
I'm going to start introducing strength training back into my workouts 2-3 times per week as well.

Thanks! I'm really stoked!
I'm doing Medifast, so the calorie count is between 800-1000 per day and carbs are between 80-100 (preferably 80-85) per day.

The first few days were the hardest. I craved my usual sweets and had a slight headache 2.5 days in a row, but by the evening of the third day, I was energetic and no headache.

I should add that the protein count is higher too, so that you feel full longer.
So far so good at staying on plan. I dont feel deprived, especially since I can eat a home cooked meal (lean and with lots of veggies) in the evening with my family.

I want to lose 35-40lbs that I've put on over the last few years. Only 30 more to go!

Down .2 from last week - total lost 37.2 since 9/2.

I've been sick for two weeks now, so I've barely been able to get workouts in. Went Thursday and tried to go again on Saturday but just didn't have the umph to get it done.

I've checked my averages since I began and I'm at -1.3 per week. I was really hoping to be at -50 by 3/2, but that didn't happen. Missed it by 12.8.

I'm trying not to get discouraged about my overall big goal, and understanding my workouts are doing their job in terms of toning, etc. I'll be re-measuring this week and that should prove interesting.

Have a good week everyone!

Started hot yoga classes last Thursday night. OMG! I think I lost at least a gallon of fluid through sweat.

I went again on Saturday morning. They tell you not to eat for 2 hours prior to class, so I had no breakfast before I went. The workout didn't feel as strenuous and I went right home and ate a protein bar. Then I had a hamburger for lunch, but I never really recovered.

I felt "off" all day on Saturday. Took the day off from dieting and exercise on Sunday and still feeling sluggish today. I'm going back for hot yoga tomorrow night after work.

Great work all!! I'm down 1 lb this week. Working out is still going well. I've stepped up the interval training.

Newlease, can you tell me more about hot yoga? Would that be a good choice for a yoga newbie?

I would say that you should start out with some easier yoga if you're new to it.

It's very athletic - fast paced. It's like doing exercise while in a sauna.

The room is heated to 99 degrees and they turn on a mist machine to increase the humidity in the room. Then the sweat starts to roll.

It's very difficult to do a balance pose while sweat is dripping off your nose and puddling on your mat. It takes a great deal of concentration.

I'm going back for more punishment tonight.

I think I would be homicidal on the Medifast diet. 800 calories, wow. I just get super irritable if I'm really hungry. I really admire you sticking to that. I wouldn't rule it out in the future when my stress levels are less high, though.

Thanks Jem, but its really not bad at all.
The first couple of days were a little tricky since I'm a sweetoholic and I couldnt get my 'fix'. It wasnt even that I was hungry, it was just cravings that were making me a little cranky.

By the third day, I felt great and the cravings were gone. I actually just walked by our receptionist's desk, which has a box of chocolates on it, and didnt even pause. Normally I would have grabbed a chocolate or two in passing.

On this plan I eat every 2-3 hours, so I'm really not hungry. I've been struggling to finish my dinner (regular store bought food) because the portions seem so large, so there are no complaints here!

I'm just checking in on this thread and am so inspired by all of your efforts!!

Gaby - way to go with adding in the exercise! I think strength training is a fabulous idea. I do worry though, and please don't take this in a critical way, that 5 days of cardio (I assume its cardio) and 2-3 of strength training on 800 calories a day is a lot to ask of your body. The protein will certainly help though - if you're going to try building muscle you need to feed yourself lots of protein.

Has anyone ever listed to the Fat 2 Fit podcast guys? They sort of fell off the face of the earth, but they had some really good ideas about weight loss/getting fit. I wish they'd come back.

Newlease, try a glass of chocolate milk or a small serving of froyo after working out. I know it sounds a little counterproductive, but the sugar is actually really helpful for recovery.

No criticism taken, Violet!
I'm being pretty careful. On days that I am doing strength training, my plan is to change the cardio to a moderate walk or yoga instead of a brisk walk/run or tabata.

Went to the Hot Yoga class again last night. I'm getting aclimated to the heat, but it is doing weird things to my body.

First of all my face is breaking out like a teenager's. I wash it immediately when I get home - I take a shower, I'm gross. Last night I had terrible gas after class for about 2 hours.

I guess that is the "toxins" being released? Anyway, I'm going to stick with it for another week at least.

bouncing the thread back up for Sunday's check-ins

I've been sick with a cold, and was pms-ing some. had a couple of days where the chocolate was irresistible. So I'm up .5 lbs. Not a lot, and most likely it's all the congestion in my head. at least that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

how's everyone else doing this week?

Down 2 pounds since last week. Apparently stress and hospital vending machine food are working for me.

This week is about restoring normalcy.

Sunday check-in!

I'm down 3.6lbs from last Sunday.
I walked/jogged 5 days this week, averaging 40 minutes per session. I didn't do any strength training though. That's on my list to start this week.
