Ran 4.7 miles yesterday and 3.2 today. Did a good job of keeping my calories around 1,200 Down 3 lbs so far but that's probably a lot of water weight!

so far so good.....

I am just not losing weight this week. Physically, I see a change in my stomach. Just no weight loss. I'm drinking tons of water and watching what I eat. I showed DD's dance teacher what exercises I am doing. She gave me some tips on how many of them I should be doing (I was doing too many) and what other exercises will really focus on my problem areas. I added lifting with dumbbells.

I hope the scale sees my efforts.

jo2, if you're building muscle tone, you might not see the scale move. Are you measuring too? I've lost several centimeters around my tummy (and gone down two sizes). I think that makes me happier than the 15 pounds.

Congrats on going down 2 sizes!!!!

I didn't even think to measure. Good idea! My stomach looks less like a puffalump (flashback to toys growing up) and more flat. I think you are right, changes are happening. Thank you!

Gah, I really hate the scale more than I love it. It's not an accurate gauge of weight loss and health. Start measuring and going off of inches and sizes lost in clothing. Fat loss doesn't necessarily show up on the scale but it will definitely show up in your clothes. Keep up the great work!

welcome, jo. If possible, try weighing in monthly. That way you can keep your sanity!

You mean not weigh myself 3 times a day? Sanity? What's that?

I'm going to try to cut back to 1 or 2 times a week. Maybe Sun & Wed.

If you could cut back to only once a week, that would be a start. Our weight fluctuates so much from water retention and other factors. That's why I don't really go with what the scale reads. If my clothes fit better and I see a difference whether it's from the naked eye or through measurements, I take that over the scale any day. I mean, don't get me wrong, when I see a loss on the scale, I'm happy but it's not my only tool for measurement. I try not to get too emotionally invested in that number.

I weigh in on Sundays. Right after I get out of the shower. Butt naked. No need to waste fractions of a pound on clothing.

MFP and my doctor both recommended losing 1lb/week - it makes sense to only weigh once a week, because that's what my loss goal is measured in (weeks).

Hi All, can I join in please?

I've decided it's time to start taking care of myself!
I have just gotten myself a treadmill so when the kids are asleep I can go for it.

One step at a time.

MJ it does! I weighed in at 148 on Sunday AM at home, and 150 fully dressed (khakis, sweater, etc. - no shoes though) Tuesday AM at the doctor's this week. Both were before eating, and I was very good in between. The only difference was the clothes!

ps - welcome harry&george!

I usually do my weekly weigh-in on Fridays, not Sundays. And, no changes this week. Same as last. Not really surprising as I haven't been exercising.

I've had a couple of slip-ups, but overall I'm eating fairly healthy. I do need to add more veggies to my diet, though. Since I've been doing my food diary again on MFP, I've noticed I'm reaching for fruit much more often than veggies.

Goals for the next week - more veggies, more water, and some exercise besides all the walking I do at work.

After D-Day I lost 25 pounds but have put 8 pounds back on.

fWW has actually gained about 10 pounds since D-Day. Not sure why...maybe you can give me some insight.

I want to lose another 15-20 pounds and it was my NY resolution. Problem is, every time I try to diet, I gain weight. If I don't try, it comes off easier.

I've contemplated joining Weight Watchers but it seems to be a gimick. Any thoughts on that and recommendations? (I know the 1200 calorie daily limit and exercise, I'm really looking for the psychological help here).

I forgot about this thread even though I posted in it the other week.

I weigh the same every day. Meh. I've gone to zumba classes 3 times a week for the past 2 weeks. During zumba class, I drink lots of water. I need to incorporate that into my routine. I'm teaching SO healthier meals to cook and I'm making dinner about once a week. I'm often not home for dinner time and I eat later, when I get home. At times, I've noticed that I struggle with portion control. I've stopped buying large bags of chips after I realized that I will eat the entire bag in a day or 2. Instead, I buy snack sized bags (variety box from Sam's Club) and I keep them in the basement. I'm allowed to have a bag or two with my meal (sandwich for lunch usually).

Maybe I should try to only weigh myself once a week. And measure myself again. I've measured myself twice. I wish I had measured myself back in July when I first started zumba class. I feel healthier because I'm not running out of breath as quickly as I used to. In the beginning, I had to force myself to slow down because I felt like I was going to pass out. Currently, the 3rd song in the routine is the hardest for me. Warm up, speed up, max out/pant!... then it tapers off and I'm okay the rest of the hour. I'm glad to be healthier, but I want to look better too!!

I'm mostly frustrated because my weight hasn't changed since I got a scale last July. Exercise. No exercise (holiday break). Add veggies and healthier foods. Eat junk. No difference.

Could it be a medical issue?

ETA - almost forgot. I purchased a heart weight monitor off amazon today. Anyone else use one?
