Why is it that when you decide you need to lose weight - eat healthier, that all you can think about is food?

I actually addressed this in IC. I had been so frustrated because diets gave me huge anxiety attacks.

When people have strong emotional links between food and feeling good then dieting can cause stress, because you are denying yourself that primary form of self-soothing. I ended up doing some EMDR to sort of break up the link between food and comfort. I swear this is why I am doing so well on Weight Watchers now. I have days where I am crabby, but I have not had a single diet-related anxiety attack.

Keep calm and carry on.

So I am completely slacking in the exercise dept. I must start lol. Weighed in at 157.5 so the weighed I gained from letting stbx move back in is almost gone, 2.5 lbs and I will be back to my low weight. At this point I am aiming for 150 lbs and a bit more toned. 2.5 weeks til my 30 th, mini goal to be at 155 by then.

I slacked off all summer.

In the spring I lost 10 lbs. 20 lbs more to go. Sigh. I wish I had a magic wand.

The good thing about school starting is that I exercise when DD does her homework. She can't complain about me having fun while she does homework. I can't complain about doing something I don't feel like doing since she is in the same boat.

My SO was here visiting and our weekend was pretty full, so no exercising for me. Can't say I ate really healthy either. But SO helped me get a bunch of little piddly stuff done around the house, so I'm not stressing about all that, and that's got to be healthier for me, right?

tomorrow - gonna get back on track. got stuff for salad for my lunches this week, and the weather is finally a little cooler. I'm hoping to get in a bike ride after work a couple of times this week.

Hi everyone! I'm sure like many others, after D-Day, I had never felt uglier and fatter. It didn't matter that 90% of the OW's were heavier and less attractive than me; I didn't feel good in my own skin, so I decided to take control of the situation.

In the past, I had yo-yo dieted countless times. One time I even did a juice fast for 14 days and lost 20 lbs that came back the second I started eating. I also have tried exercising and not changing eating habits... Didn't work so well. So this time, I had a "brilliant" idea: why not try it the old fashioned way- healthy, wholesome diet and exercise???

I began in April weighing 169 lbs. Not my heaviest (175), but that's still a lot for someone who is 5'2". Today, and a lot of hard work/dedication later, I now weigh 132 lbs. I've probably lost about 40 lbs total, but I've also gained lean muscle. My short-term goal is to reach 125, which was my high school weight. My ultimate goal is 120, but to be toned up completely.

I will keep you all updated. Remember, the key is consistency! Best wishes on your weight loss journeys!

Hi All,

Today is my 1 year anniversary of starting what I thought was a diet, but turned out to be a lifestyle change. Who knew? Last year I was finally ready. In the last year, I have lost 80 lbs., some of those pounds more than once, but I am still proud.

The 17 day diet was my start and is still my foundation. Lots of protein, lots of veggies and fruit. After about 40 lbs and 4-5 months, I started counting calories. It worked - I will never say it was easy, but it worked.

This is my "birthday". I wish I could say I feel GREAT! But the reality is that I still have body issues. It's a tough road to plow through. But I feel good, and definitely (!) I feel FAR LESS ashamed. Now I just feel overweight, but not dreading to go outside.

I have 10-15 lbs. to go and that will be difficult, but I'm ready for the challenge.

It can be done. It's not easy, but when you're ready, do it! It's hard but worth it. What I have learned is - don't deprive yourseif. I have had weeks where I've gained and it's mentally demoralizing, but overall, it's so great to not feel deprived. Have a sundae on occasion. If you get back on the plan immediately, you'll stiil lose weight.

All the best!

woohoo! I got into my jeans that I couldn't fit into for the 1st casual Friday of my new job 2 months ago. I've still got a muffin top, but I can get the jeans on over my thighs, and wear them now.

I've lost 8 lbs since I started this job, most of it in the last month.

Hi Hope

I have to lose too...I started 6 weeks ago and am down 22 pounds.

I lost a ton of weight after Dday, but during R we started taking a lot of vacations, going out to dinner etc etc and both my H and I have packed on a bunch of weight!!

So far I have elimintaed carbs and I am eating salads, lots of chicken/protein etc...

This sucks, but I figure I better do it before I get any older.

Good luck!!!

well i hope we can bring this back to life. Sense D day i have gained 30 pounds and I need to get it off. I will not hit the 200 mark again. I was doing really good then comfort eating hit.

So I will start walking and get batteries for my wii. I hope with my birthday coming up i can save up enough money to join a gym.

I discovered recently that I can wear my SO's t-shirts. All my exes have been on the thinner side, so being able to sleep or lounge around in a boyfriend's shirt is one of those things that only girls on TV get to do.

I steal his shirts all the time now. LOL

Down 65 pounds so far for 2012!

Keep calm and carry on.

22lbs to go.

I am happy to report that I went to Thanksgiving dinner and did NOT eat any dessert. That had to save me 1200 calories and 300 grams of fat, right?

This was truly the ONLY good thing to come out of WH's 2yr affair: I finally got the jump start I needed to lose the weight. I have stage III cancer and my doctor has been after me to lose but I thought after all the treatments and surgeries this would be too hard so I never tried.

Last week I was trying on jeans in the Lucky store and the saleswoman said," Those look too big, I'd better get you a size 0." I had her repeat it. I had been a 14 in April. I am so much healthier now, I run every day at lunch (instead of going out!) and log my calories on My Fitness Pal.

Frankly I think it's size inflation. Sounds better than 14 though. Thanks for the support. Good luck to you too! Go get those Skinny Cow ice cream bars, we can toast with them at night.

Giving this a bump for all of us who've made a new commitment in the New Year!!

DCK, I am really interested in the EMDR angle. I've used it before for an unrelated issue. I would like to let go of the attitudes I have between comfort and food. I have also strongly identified a pattern in my thinking. It has until this point been "ALL or NOTHING". So I do fabulous for months and lose all kinds of weight but I am some sort of weight loss commando. I am anxious and militant the whole time. Then I have ONE bad day and it's over. Right back where i started. I don't understand that. Why does one day of skipping a work out or poor eating have to mean failure?
That's something that needs some exploration for me.

I started going to Zumba classes this past summer. I went 2-4 times each week. I started watching what I was eating and cutting back on some of the bad things (pop, junk food). I didn't lose any weight. I haven't to Zumba in a couple of weeks due to being busy with the holidays. I'm hesitant to go back because nothing really changed before. I know I need to make more changes in my lifestyle to see results. I wish it wasn't so hard.

I lost a bunch of weight while going through the affair/divorce. But once I was happy again and eating again, I gained almost all of it back. Frustrating.
