I started walking on a regular basis 3 weeks ago. I have been walking in the mornings after I get DD up. She wants me to wake her up at 5:30 which is brutally early for me because I am not a morning person. But I have found that I can put on some shoes and a leash on the dogs and go for a walk without straining my brain. But I did not do it this Monday or last monday either. I hate mondays!
I also joined weight watchers online so I am tracking my eating. That has helped me eat more fruits and veggies and control my portions. I also stopped eating sweets. Although I like sweets, I can cut them out without feeling deprived.
The one are where I am not doing any improvements is drinking. I love me some vodka. It is my only vice. I decided to concentrate on establishing good exercise habits and eating habits for now. I think if I tried to tackle all 3 then I would fail because I would feel deprived and forced to do things I do not like while not being able to do things I do like. I keep telling myself "baby steps"
I donot have a scale yet (hopefully it will be delivered tomorrow) but I went to the Dr the first week I started (for unrelated things) so I know how much I weighed on his scale. I feel like I have lost some weight because my clothes, especially my jeans, fit a little better.

Got my 30 minutes in on the elliptical tonight, so I'm feeling pretty good about that. I'm hoping to get in a couple of bike rides in this week, but my main exercise goal is to exercise for 30 minutes on 5 days. One day down!

I am working on getting my morning walk in at least 3 days a week (30-40 minutes) and getting at least some exercise EVERY day. That is a big difference from a month ago when I sat on my ass all day long, most every day.
inconnu, I agree with you about the protein. I learned the trick to have some protein with every carb many years ago. Carbs alone can leave you hungry. I am not tracking my protein but I do pay attention to it. I try to eat mostly protein and veggies for lunch and just a little carbs at dinner.

Fridays are going to be my weigh-in days, and I've been back using myfitnesspal for 2 weeks now. So tomorrow I'll see if I'm heading in the right direction, or not.

Tracking my food intake has been a huge benefit for me as well. Knowing that I have to log everything makes me more cautious, not to mention I am killing myself with P90X and I'm doing my best not to ruin it with bad food choices - I still slip though..Keep up the great work everyone!
MissesJai, I get what you're saying about the scale, but how clothes fit doesn't do it for me, by itself. Even when I'm in shape, I've..how shall I say this...got a curvy rear end, no matter what size or weight I am. So pants don't typically fit well, which makes it a not completely reliable measure of progress for me. I can muffin-top in the front, and still have a 3-4 inch gap in the waistband at the back, at the same time.
So I also use the scale as one of the ways I measure my progress. It's another tool, just like my food log, or measurements, or mileage tracker.
I weighed in after recommitting to the plan and have had my best week since the first week I think. Down a total of 47lbs. And yes, I check other NSVs (non-scale victories). I have a weight loss journal with measurements and pictures. Just a headshot but you can see my face getting thinner and collarbones begin to show. I've lost inches all around since I started in mid-November. Nearly 8 inches in my waist and 2 inches in my neck. Never think about losing there! Because I am working out, I'm firmer all around too.
When I lost this weight with the ID I was shipped differently. I think I'm inadvertently bulking up my thighs so I'm switching my workout around and going for distance rather than incline and resistance on the treadmill and elliptical.
As a NSV it felt good to go into the Gap outlet, try on a medium shirt and have to exchange it for a small. This time last year I was XL! My 40 year old self is SOOOOO going to thank my 38 year old self for her hard work!

It was weird, but with the I-diet, even though I lost a ton of weight, I kept curves in places I hadn't had curves before. Except my rear - my rear has always been curvy. When I was younger and thin, I just didn't have the hips or bust to match the curves.
Now I do, and they're mostly flabby curves.
Ok, any suggestions on how to tone the flab? I have lost 20#, have about 20-25# more to lose but I would like to start toning up some of the flabby parts. I have been doing the Cto5K, some bike riding, but that is it. Problem areas are arms and stomach...legs are ok.
Anyway, I suggest that you get some cheap hand weights and start doing bicep and tricep exercises. You want to use them every other night (you need a day to rest your muscles). If you want some more specific guidance then PM me.
I so did not drink enough water at work today though, and had too much caffeine. I could really feel it when I got finished with my ride. So now I'm sitting under the fan where it's cool, sucking down some water.
Does anyone use an app to track miles? I was trying the endomondo app because then it would upload my miles directly to the bike challenge I signed up for. But the numbers are coming up wrong. From start to the midway point it says I went 2.99 miles. From the midway point back to where I started, following the exact route, it says I rode 3.75 miles. Since the trail is marked, I happen to know 3.75 miles is accurate. I don't know if it's the gps on my phone not picking up the signal, or the app just not working right. But I thought I'd try a different one, and see if that helped any.
Watching my sugar and calories seems to help. Well that and exercising alot.
My upper body is so sore that I can barely move right now.
Stick with it, my first round results were nuts.

Yeah, month 2! I HATE Core Synergistics - okay, I just hate Dreya and her stupid roll. I hope I'll be able to do them at some point. Plyo was last night and I did it with DS 17 - we kicked ass! We were dripping sweat but man, it was an awesome workout. I love the squat jacks!
I've lost 2 inches around my waist thus far. The scale is mean so I ignore it. I'm definitely sticking with it - I will probably do a 2nd round later this year. I want to do a round of Insanity once I've survived the X.
