I am thinking of trying P90X. Has anyone done it? A friend of mine swears it has worked wonders for her.

A month before D-Day, I saw a picture of me on Thanksgiving that just scared the crap out of me. No denying that I was clinically obese.

I joined http://www.myfooddiary.com and a month later found out about the first of WH's As. Lost about 15 lbs right away.

Since then I've lost a pound a week on average, for more than 50 pounds off.

It's made me feel SO MUCH BETTER about myself. I feel sexy, I am not ashamed of how I feel, and I can bear to look at pictures of me again. I still have about 18 pounds to go. I've been on a plateau for the last month or two, holding steady, and really need to buckle down to keep losing.

Here's to those of you who want to get some weight off your body as well as your heart!

I'm kicking off on Monday with a detox for a week. I did this about 18 months ago and it was great. I lost about 10 pounds and it helped settle my allergies.

I plan to use wii fit to help me and am hoping to lose about 20 pounds all up starting with the detox and then moving to a healthier diet with no crap. I love salty snacks.

tts

eta: good for you kk, keep up the great work.
Sorry Nor, never heard of it.

I got myself EA Active Personal Trainer for my Wii and I love it!! My thighs are killing me. I have also committed to go to Weight Watchers and lose this weight once and for all. I want to be healthy both emotionally and physically. Anyone that has a Wii and is bored or not challenged by Wii Fit should definitely try the EA Active. 2 days in and Im really feeling it!! Great thread!!

my attitude for this year was to focus on me and not the A

We recently got the Wii Fit plus (um used once) and when I can get WH to watch the kids (he works nights, sleeps days) I was running.

I saw a pic tonight of myself about 3 years ago and I can't believe how good I looked then.

time to do something about it. Change the relationship I have with food - but damn it tastes good LOL

A GINORMOUS THANK YOU TO THE MODS for giving us this forum...

Okay, Major honesty here...I don't eat much, I eat the wrong things. I like bread, nuts, sugar, chocolate, etc.. So, Im now doing my best to keep it out of my house (til h brings it in for the kids, then it will be will power).

Prior to getting pregnant with the baby I lost 6 wks bf I conceived dd, I was down to 145 lbs. It was stressful as my h still ridiculed me for being fat (today, he said he was just "molestando"). I never felt thin.

Then I got big...

During the the a while I was pregnant, I lost 30 lbs...on bed rest and eating a huge amount of food (huge for me; I had to explain to the hospital why I didn't eat "normal" portions). I continued to lose weight. Then after his trip to C.R. things changed. My body went hay wire. I was on different thyroid meds (give me back my armour, thank you) and then I had other things going on, but I was told I didn't.

So, I gave up.

I don't have a scale, but Im guessing I am around 230-240 lbs at 5 ft 7 1/2". It's not acceptable to me. I still have my clothes from just after ds was born 2 yrs ago, but I can only fit into 2 pair of pants that are 4 sizes larger..or more. I refuse to buy new clothes.

A few months ago, I found Tosca Reno's eat clean diet via the Oxygen Magazine (Tosca R. is married to the editor of Oxygen Mag). I bought almost all the books, but didn't follow through.

So here is my plan...

Eat. Snack. Keep the calories low and clean. Healthy foods. But I DO use a lot of frozen veggies bc they tend to go bad in my house bf I can use them. The less time I spend in the foodstores, the less temptation to buy "twinkies" or "hagen daz", etc..

I have back problems (had a partial diskectomy 65-s1 last feb) and with the excess baggage, normal excersizing is problematic, so I guess I will keep it to some dvd's (pilates mat and some other stuff I have) plus break out with my old back excersizes until I can get things going...i.e, can excersize without pain.

No sugar. I don't drink sugar in my tea, so will keep cold home brewed tea in the fridge and cut down on my coffee consumption (I use powdered milk or half and half and plenty of sugar...). I will add more fruits and veggies to my diet and get up in the morning to do at least 15-30 mins of something before work.

My goal is to get close to wearing my old clothes by July. Back then I weighed 175 lbs.

I will also make it a priority to take my thyroid meds, my vitamin d3, metfromin and the sr. centrium (Im not senior, but they had more vitamins...).

Now, that Ive put all that out there...if I don't do it, then I'll be one embarrassed puppy....

Oh, and Im going to make it a goal to buy myself the WII for my bday in late Feb...I want Daisy Fuentes Pilates...

Broken...okay, Im fat, but Ive been down this road a thousand times, sooo...you mention you're on a plateu...have you tried switching up your excersizes. Maybe adding weights. Or changing the time of day you excersize. Ive read that if you keep your body thinking, then it makes the weight come off easier.

Major congrats on the 50 lbs. That's absolutely wonderful. Food diary. Have to check that one out.

Oh, if anyone is interested
www.cleaneatingdiet.com has great recipies, info and a msg board...

I don't know how much it matters, I take my thyroid meds before I get out of bed in the AM. I set my alarm a bit early and take it with a sip of water. It's best on an empty stomach. Unfortunately, I have another pill I have to also take on an empty stomach, without any other med, so I do that twice, 6 AM and 6:30 AM and then get up at 7. Works for me...

My problem isn't weight right now, I seem to have stabilized, but I stopped going to the gym after DD#1. I need to go back. Or turn on the Wii Fit. Or something. I do feel better, and I will loose the menopot that we tend to get after 50. I;ll post my progress.

Kudos to all of you and best of luck and will power! I say we post our bathing suit pictures May 30th!

K...Maybe we can remind each other to take our meds .

I take synthroid first thing in the a.m.. Then I have to take cytomel at noon. According to the directions, I cannot eat thirty minutes bf or after taking these pills. Then I have to take VitD3 and Metfromin the evening. Then add the regular vitamins...the schedual plus work plus kid thing is throwing me off. My job does not have a regular schedule (except Monday: 630a-230pm...but I have to be up by 530 at the latest and out the door by 6a). If anyone has any ideas on how to keep this all in order. I know there are people who take like 50 pills a day (okay, Im exaggerating a bit, but....)...I don't know how they do it. If I don't take my pills, the weight loss thing is hopeless.

"I say we post our bathing suit pictures May 30th!". Oh, lordy...I think if I did that, I'd break the SI servers
If I have the courage, I'm doing the "headless horseman" thing.

Is it okay to join in if I don't need to lose any more weight, but do need to start eating better and exercising more?

I dropped 40 lbs all together on the I-diet, over the last 16 months but the exercise and eating right parts went out the window when stbx left 5 months ago. I'm feeling flabby and yucky now.

I was heavier but I was in much better shape last spring than I am now. I need to get my ass in gear and get moving.

I really want to lose these nasty old 20 lbs and keep them off. I have a gym membership and just have not been going. I have to somehow get myself there atleast a few times a week.

I always seem to gain 10lb in the winter as well and I so want to have one winter when I actually lose and don't do that whole gain thing. If nothing else I need to get more energy. I can't keep doing these same patterns because they are not working for me well.

We don't eat to bad around here. Low fat for the most part but definitally could do with more fruits and veggies.

I suggest:

http://www.healthdiscovery.net/forums/

a support forum for those following Weight Watchers.

Note, you do not have to be "officially" on WW. This site gives tons of info that would allow you to follow the program without ever going, although most members say go to ONE WW meeting to get the basic info.

Many forums for different ages, amounts of weight to be lost, recipes, etc.

Well moderated, nice folks, good info.

Cool link, thanks!
My plan is to follow WW on my own until I'm down to 140lb (currently over 180 - all thanks to stress eating). Started yesterday, we will see how it goes...

A great free website for tracking, recipes, and support is Sparkpeople.com
I love it and used it alot (and still do for recipes)before joining Weight Watchers last summer.
I think this is a wonderful thread and urge anyone that might struggle or falter to come here and post. Lets support each other in our efforts. I feel very motivated!! Have a great day!!
