I can't even explain for what, too much swirled together
praying also for your son and his unique situation
It's so easy for me to pray for others and yet I feel unworthy to pray for myself..
In each of our stories, it seems that there is just too much stuff, so complicated and intertwined, like being in a tornado.
Dear God, please still the pounding of our hearts and calm our minds and lift up our broken spirits so we can come to you with focus and without fear. Lord, we come to you for strength and comfort and clarity.
I feel your prayers, thank you.
Maia, Surviving, 14, firm, fallen and all the rest.
It is amazing. It is easier to pray for others than ourselves sometimes. But God knows our hearts. There were(and are) so many days I couldn't pray. I was so overwhelmed. The prayers of others on my behalf lifted me and sustained me. I ask that now for all here on SI and specifically this thread, that are in that position. Lift them up Lord. You know their hearts, their needs, their desires. Help them feel your loving arms around them, sustaining them.
Thank you for your prayers guys. I have felt them too.
Blessings for a peaceful weekend. S

One of the greatest artists that ever lived on the face of the earth was a man by the name of Rembrandt who lived in the Netherlands from 1606 until 1669. The 6000 paintings of Rembrandt's have appeared in art museums all over the world. The range of his works includes landscapes, portraits, animals, historical subjects, and paintings inspired by stories from the Old and New Testaments. I have always found it interesting that Rembrandt produced only one painting of the sea, and it was entitled, "Christ in the Storm on the Sea of Galilee."
However, there is something very unique about the painting. When you gaze upon the painting and begin to count the twelve disciples, you then discover that there are thirteen disciples, not twelve. All of a sudden, you realize that one of the disciples is different from all of the rest. He is wearing the typical Dutch dress of the seventeenth century. You finally realize that Rembrandt had painted a picture of himself in the fishing boat with Jesus and His twelve disciples.
Over the past 350 years, people who have gazed upon this masterpiece of Rembrandt's entitled, "Christ in the Storm of the Sea of Galilee," have asked the question, "Why did Rembrandt picture himself in the fishing boat with Jesus and the twelve disciples?" The most frequent answer suggests that Rembrandt wanted to remind himself, amid all of the storms of his personal life, of the eternal presence of Jesus Christ to bring peace.
We live in a world where bad things happen. Perhaps we need to remember Rembrandt and how he painted himself in the painting "Christ in the Storm of the Sea of Galilee." How he wanted to remind himself, amid all of the storms of life, of the eternal presence of Jesus Christ to bring peace. May we seek the peace of Christ in the very depths of our souls. No matter what we face.in our day to day lives.may we have the peace of Christ.
Jesus said, "Peace I leave with you, my peace I give to you; not as the world gives peace, but as I give peace."
May we seek, not the peace the world gives, but the peace Jesus gives.
My prayers for each of you my SI friends....
Praying for you. God's strength, and peace, be with all of you. May he comfort you in your times of need.
I hope everyone has a great weekend. My wife and I are going to spend some time together before she goes away on business Sunday; please pray that it will plant a seed of forgiveness and renewal in her heart - the walls are still pretty firmly up. Thanks to God for all the good times we are still able to share.
Prayer request: WF has been called back to Taiwan as soon as next week. We cannot avoid this trip, so I think I will be joining him. Bad timing with school just started - but evidently -it is the right time, cuz it's here. Pray for understanding from my instructors and my WF. Since I have a choice I cannot sit here waiting again. He wants me to trust him, and I do want to too. Please keep us in your prayers.
Praying for all, G

Dear Concerned Student:
I am not allowed in schools.
How did this get started?...
I think it started when Madeline Murray O'Hare complained
She didn't want any prayer in our schools.
And we said, OK.
Then, someone said you better not:
Read the Bible in school;
the Bible that says
"thou shalt not kill,
Thou shalt not steal,
And love your neighbors as yourself,"
And we said, OK...
Dr. Benjamin Spock said
We shouldn't spank our children
When they misbehaved
Because their little personalities
Would be warped and we might damage their self-esteem.
And we said,
An expert should know what he's talking about
So we won't spank them anymore..
Then someone said
Teachers and principals better not
Discipline our children when they misbehave.
And the school administrators said
No faculty member in this school
Better touch a student when they misbehave
Because we don't want any bad publicity,
And we surely don't want to be sued.
And we accepted their reasoning...
Then someone said,
let's let our daughters have abortions if they want,
And they won't even have to tell their parents.
And we said, that's a grand idea.
Then some wise school board member said,
Since boys will be boys
And they're going to do it anyway,
let's give our sons all the condoms they want,
So they can have all the fun they desire,
And we won't have to tell their parents they got them at school.
And we said, that's another great idea...
Then some of our top elected officials said
It doesn't matter what we do in private as long as we do our jobs.
And we said,
It doesn't matter what anybody, including the President,
Does in private as long as we have jobs and the economy is good....
And someone else took that appreciation a step further
And published pictures of nude children
And then stepped further still by
Making them available on the Internet.
And we said, everyone's entitled to free speech....
And the entertainment industry said,
let's make TV shows and movies that promote
Profanity, violence and illicit sex...
And let's record music that encourages
Rape, drugs, murder, suicide, and satanic themes...
And we said,
it's just entertainment
And it has no adverse effect
And nobody takes it seriously anyway,
So go right ahead.
Now we're asking ourselves
Why our children have no conscience,
Why they don't know right from wrong,
And why it doesn't bother them to
Kill strangers, classmates or even themselves.
If we thought about it long and hard enough,
We could figure it out.
I'm sure it has a great deal to do with...
"WE REAP WHAT WE SOW"
Pass it on
If you think it has merit!
If not then just discard it...
But if you discard this thought process,
Then don't you dare sit back and complain about
What bad shape this country is in!!
Why is it our children can not read a Bible in school, but can in Prison.
I went to a special program called challenge day at a Junior High school and was a small group facilitator there. The day was dedicated to helping kids open up about their feelings and about what is going on in their lives at home and at school. It was dedicated to breaking the students out of isolation and bridging gaps and ending oppression among the groups at the school. Thei motto is 'Be the Change". On this particular day one student felt courage enough to share the difference that developing a relationship with Jesus Christ has made in his life. He was received well by all 120 people or so irregardless of the varying religions represented. I felt encouraged.
I am praying for you all the best I can.
Keep me in your thoughts this weekend. It's been a terrible week. Things are coming to an end and I know it and feel lost.
It's A Bad Dream, I read your profile & see the same sort of battle I have had with my WS which I have related in my profile. My saddened heart goes out to your equally shattered one as do my prayers.
